The guys at Urban Zone League took Urban Terror 4.2 through the wringer again in the second edition of KNOCKOUT. This time our very own Concept Artist Nounou was competing, and wow, did he get far; the finals no less! It attracted a very international group of competitors, last edition there was someone from India. This time Australia was represented by Shans who did extremely well; he beat off all competition despite his 400 ping to the European server to be crowned KO champion! Brejnless representing Sweden managed to get the second spot.

The video features gratuitous violence in the church on ut4_company, some never before seen artwork by Nounou and a lot of underrated maps that rarely see the light of day. Hopefully this will cause them to be played more.

Greetings Urban Terror fans, while we work on the next Update (4.2.010) we thought you might be interested in seeing what 4.2 can do in the right hands. In this case in the right hands happens to be our newest addition to the development team SevenofNine who restarted an event originally invented by rYuuJiN.

The gametype known as KnockOut is where the last two on the leader board are “Knocked Out” until there is but one left standing.

Competition wise as an event KnockOut is two hours of non-stop action where rules of fair play become a suggestion and where rules are broken by but not limited to shoutcasters narcing out campers as well as players not able to handle the pressures and intentionally lemming off of tall buildings if just for the shear entertainment value.

Don't be fooled though this is 2 hours of grueling gun what you brung with a side order of fun to earn Ironman bragging rights as KnockOut king.

Sign ups for the Urban Zone League Capture the Flag, Team Survivor and BOMB Mode competition have opened and will remain open until the 3rd of February.

For the two highest divisions there will be a slight twist. Rather than a regular league setup it will be a cup system due to popular request from the Urban Terror community.

The End of the World Release

The Frozen Sand development team has worked very hard to bring you the latest version of Urban Terror 4.2, just in time before the Mayans End of the World !


Urban Terror 4.2.009 runs smoothly in all our testing. The team has put in substantial work in putting right many many bugs and niggles that have been around for a little while. Why not give it a try for yourself ?!

information To get the latest version of Urban Terror 4.2 just run your UrTUpdater ! Alternatively, you can download a full copy.

New version of ut4_jumpents test map with new ut_jumpcancel entity.
Added Jump mode coloured ways. Mappers now have the option to set coloured routes on a Jump map.
Added the Glock.

The Frozen Sand development team has worked very hard to bring you this extended update for Urban Terror 4.2 !! Please all update your game as soon as possible.

We have included a test map called ut4_jumptest to show mappers how to implement the new jump entities. You can find the .map file within the ut4_jumptestmap.pk3.

note Please note we had to change the name of the jump mode tutorial map included with the release of 4.2.008 due to a name conflict. The new name is ut4_jumpents.pk3. Please delete the ut4_jumptest.pk3 that you received with the 4.2.008 update, and replace it with ut4_jumpents.pk3.

information To update your Urban Terror 4.2 we suggest you to use the UrTUpdater. You can also directly download Urban Terror 4.2.008.

Added jump mode timers:

Timers are deactivated on every map start. To activate the personal timer the player has to type /ready in the console. When a player is in "ready" status he/she will not be able to use /save, /load and /regainstamina commands. However, /g_noStamina will be available since it's a server feature. To deactivate the timer the player has to type /ready in console again or join "spectators". This will reset the run timer but it will keep the best run timer value and the last run timer value visible in the player HUD.

As per usual we welcome feedback in our forum.

alert WARNING For those who updated before 11:50CET, there is a bug with the animation pack. Please either delete zUrT42_0013.pk3 and run the updater (to download the update again) or replace it with the file yourself. Sorry about that!

alert WARNING Sorry everyone. We just discovered that there is a major bug in 4.2.007 server (Linux/FreeBSD). The server will crash randomly and is not considered stable. We extend our apologies for this unforseen issue. We are actively working on permanently resolving this issue.

Update 007 has fallen from the sky ! Please update your Urban Terror 4.2 as soon as possible !!

information To update your game simply run the UrTUpdater. By using the UrTUpdater you are sure that all the files in your Urban Terror 4.2 folder are correctly updated.
However, as an alternative, you can also directly download Urban Terror 4.2.007.

There are New Updates and Fixes, and we have added Jump Mode to Urban Terror 4.2. Please update your game as soon as possible !!

Frozen Sand recommends using the UrTUpdater to get the latest version. By using the UrTUpdater you are sure that all the files in your Urban Terror folder are correctly updated.

However, as an alternative, you can also directly download Urban Terror 4.2.006, Direct Zip Download 1.2GB.

New Gametype: Jump Mode

Some say, that humans were not designed to fly. Time to prove them wrong. Jump, bounce, slide, grab to reach the end of the level !

Jump Mode features:
All players are visible on the minimap.
Spectators can chat globally.
Purple hud.
Player hits are disabled.
Flags can be captured depending on the map.
Client commands:
/savePos saves the current player position on the server.
/loadPos loads the last player position on the server.
/regainstamina activate fast regain stamina.
Server CVARs:
g_allowPosSaving 0/1 set to 1 enables players to save their position on a map.
g_regainStamina 0/1 set to 0 stops players to use /regainstamina on your server.
g_noStamina 0/1 enables infinite stamina for players.
g_noDamage 0/1 if enabled players cannot get hurt from MOD_FALLING and MOD_TELEFRAG.
g_ghostPlayers 0/1 set to 1 enables players to jump through the other players on the server.

Fixed the autoradio bug in Bomb Mode.
Fixed the "Last Man Standing" gametype description in the in-game menu.
LMS round winner is now logged.

We have a new update for Urban Terror 4.2 ! Please use the UrTUpdater to automatically update your game to the latest version! It will not only download new files, but also overwrite old ones.

urt By using the UrTUpdater you are sure that all the files in your Urban Terror folder are correctly updated.

In Update 4.2.005 we had to go back to the 4.2.002 animations temporarily, expect more updates to follow !

Fixed CTF scores bleeding through warmup into game.

alert WARNING Sorry everyone. We just discovered that the updater is broken and is not overwriting the paks it is supposed to. It should overwrite zUrT42_0008.pk3, zUrT42_0009.pk3, zUrT42_0010.pk3, zUrT42_0011.pk3, zUrT42_0012.pk3 and zUrT42_qvm.pk3. If you delete the old pk3's and run the updater it should download the new versions of the above pk3's and get the new zUrT42_0013.pk3.
